2. Measuring and impressing
During the second visit to our clinic, we will take measurements and impressions of your teeth, to create a custom brace for you.
3. Brace placement
We put the finished brace on the teeth. You can also choose the color of the rubber bands, which you can change over time.
4. Regular monitoring of progress
We will regularly monitor how the teeth alignment progresses. If necessary, we will tighten the braces or provide a new one.

- Teeth are growing crooked, crowded, or with large gaps between them.
- The upper teeth excessively overlap the lower ones — or vice versa.

- When the mouth is closed, there is a gap between the upper and lower teeth.
Functional signs:

- You bite your cheeks or tongue.
- The jaw clicks, aches, or tires quickly while eating and talking.
- You have difficulty pronouncing certain sounds.
Hygiene signs:
- It is hard to floss between crowded teeth.
- Cavities regularly appear in the same spots.
Many bite disorders have no obvious external signs and are only detected during a dental visit. Therefore, an accurate answer can only be given by an orthodontist consultation — an examination, X-rays, and a bite analysis. The earlier the problem is identified, the simpler and faster it can be corrected.
A dentist is a general practitioner. They treat cavities, extract teeth, place fillings and crowns, and perform routine check-ups. People visit a dentist for acute pain, bleeding gums, a chipped tooth — in other words, with a specific problem that needs to be addressed right away.
An orthodontist is a specialist who focuses exclusively on diagnosing and correcting improper bite and tooth alignment. They do not treat cavities or extract teeth, but they assess how the teeth and jaws are positioned relative to one another and develop a treatment plan for their correction.

By material
- Metal — the most common and effective. They handle complex clinical cases, withstand heavy loads, and last a long time. The only downside — they are visible on the teeth.
- Ceramic — the color is matched to the shade of the tooth enamel, so they look significantly less noticeable. Slightly more expensive than metal, and may become mildly stained from coffee and tea.
- Sapphire — made from monocrystalline sapphire, almost transparent. More aesthetic than ceramic, but more expensive and somewhat more fragile.
- Lingual — placed on the inner surface of the teeth, completely invisible from the outside. Suitable for those for whom aesthetics is the top priority. More difficult to maintain and get used to, significantly more expensive.
By arc fixation type
- Ligature — the arc is fixed to each bracket with a separate elastic or wire. They require more frequent visits to the doctor for ligature replacement.
- Self-ligating — the arc is held by a built-in clip. Less friction, gentler pressure on the teeth, less frequent visits to the doctor. More expensive than ligature braces, but more comfortable to wear.
Aligners — an alternative to braces
Removable transparent trays that gradually shift the teeth. Discreet, can be removed during eating and brushing. Suitable for mild to moderate bite issues. Require high discipline — they must be worn for at least 22 hours a day.
How to choose
The choice depends on four factors:
- Complexity of the clinical case. For serious bite problems, metal or ceramic braces are more effective than aligners — the orthodontist has more tools to control tooth movement.
- Aesthetic requirements. If discreteness is important — consider ceramic, sapphire, or lingual systems. If the result matters more than appearance — metal braces are optimal in terms of price-to-effectiveness ratio.
- Budget. Metal braces are the most affordable; lingual braces and aligners are the most expensive. Find out the cost of the entire treatment, not just the fitting.
- Lifestyle. If you frequently appear in public — lingual braces or aligners. If you play contact sports — metal braces are more reliable.
The final decision is always made together with an orthodontist after a thorough diagnosis.
