Everything that should last needs care. A dental implant looks like a natural tooth, but beneath the surface it behaves differently. Unlike a natural tooth, an implant is not surrounded by the same type of connective tissue. This means it is less protected and much more sensitive to inflammation and infection. If you do not look after it, bacteria can reach the titanium "root".

What proper care looks like

1. Daily home hygiene

  • Use a soft toothbrush twice a day.
  • Do not skip interdental brushes or dental floss – especially around the implant.
  • Use an alcohol-free mouthwash, ideally with an antibacterial effect.

2. Professional hygiene every 6 months

  • During dental hygiene at Happydent, we also clean the places an ordinary toothbrush cannot reach.
  • We check the condition of the gums and measure the depth of the pockets around the implant.
  • If needed, we start local treatment early, before a problem develops.

How long does an implant last

A well-placed and regularly checked implant lasts 10–20 years. Without hygiene, however, its lifespan is shorter. Think of an implant as a quality car – it also needs regular servicing to take you reliably for many years.

Care you can rely on

Even the best implant is only half of the success. The other half is in your hands – and in our care. At Happydent you always have access to:

  • professional dental hygiene,
  • a personal hygiene plan tailored to your needs,
  • regular check-ups that help prevent complications,

What to do in the first days after the procedure is explained in the article How a dental implant is placed.
